Is there a better example of late 1950s America?
Thanks so much for uploading these. I recommend the Elvis episode first. This was Elvis' first appearance after his discharge from the Army, and his performance was great. Sinatra and Elvis together were unforgettable - two giants of 20th century America singing a duet. This era was truly the apogee of American culture, confidence, and optimism. Later would come assassinations, riots, Vietnam, Watergate, and the sea change wrought by my generation. Growing up, I never related to Sinatra and Presley. They were not part of the Beatles/Woodstock generation, and I was too young to have any more than an immediate perspective. Looking back on them now, I can see that they were larger than life giants, and I find myself awed by their performances.
